Coming up to Christmas our lives can become pretty hectic, with an increasing to-do list of cleaning, shopping and wrapping presents, friends and family having amazing Christmas parties and your work load increasing in an attempt to have some much needed time off. Sometimes, it can all become a bit much and balancing all the different aspects of your life can become a bit of a juggling act. So here’s some handy dandy tips to keep you sane over the busy Christmas period.
Learn to say no!
Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to say no to your boss, family or friends. But for you to provide the best version of yourself for them, it’s so important to learn your limits and say no. It’s really not the end of the world if you miss that one family dinner, or a trip to the pub with your mates and honestly, your boss or colleagues should respect the fact your know your limits and aren’t afraid to stand up for yourself.
Draw a line between work and home.
As a blogger this is something I really stuggle with. When I’m sitting at home just watching TV, I always feel guilty for not having my laptop open researching or writing posts, which is crazy! Learning to draw a line between work and home is so important to be able to fully relax and refuel for maximum productivity the following day. Set strict hours that’ll you’ll allow yourself to work and outside of those hours close the laptop and relax.
I love to start each month making a plan of everything I have going on or things I have to accomplish during that month. From this I’m able to prioritise and organise an action plan for the month, starting with things I absolutely have to do and then something I’d like to do but it’s not the end of the world if I don’t complete. Prioritising things in this manner allows me to use whatever time I have most effectively.
Recognise the importance of all aspects of your life.
Working is obviously an important aspect of everyones lives; we need money to pay bills, eat and enjoy little things in life. But the mistake far too many people make is prioritising work above all other aspects of your life. It’s so important to understand how vital relaxing, spending time socialising with friends and just having fun is. Having down time from work helps keep your stress levels down. The less stressed you are, the more productive, more creative and the happier you’ll be.
