Everyday Skincare Products And Why We Should Be Using Them!

I feel like I’ve been doing so many beauty round up posts recently but I think these are by far my favourite posts to both write and read. I love seeing the combination of products that compliment each other really well. So here’s another one. Today I’m going to be talking about my everyday skincare products. Products that I use morning and night, day in day out.

Now first and foremost I want to stress that although all these products work really well for me, everyone’s skin is different and completely unique to you. Many people think your skin type can be split into only three categories, Dry, Oily or Combination. But there are actually many different traits your skins can have. For me personally, I have very oily yet dehydrated skin and I’ve finally found the perfect combination of products to keep my skin looking and feeling great. Unsure of your skin type? Head over to my Skin Types Explained post to help you find out!

Makeup Removal/ Cleansing
Makeup removal is one of the most important processes when trying to look after your skin. If you often skip this step I recommend you check out my post Why You Should Never Wear Makeup To Bed. I even scared myself with that one! Garnier

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
Micellar water is the product that honestly changed my whole outlook on makeup removal! It’s so quick, easy and honestly feels just like water on your face. I love using this with the large oval cotton pads from boots and I gently press it on my eyes to remove my eye makeup. It literally just melts everything away and requires no rubbing! Perfect for looking after the delicate skin around your eyes!

Exuviance Facial Cleanser
At a blogger event I’ve previously attended I was kindly given a bottle of this facial cleanser to try out. I had a long discussion with a lovely lady that works for the company and explained all my skin concerns and as a result she recommended this facial cleanser to me. This is targeted at returning the skin back to it’s natural PH level (perfect for us oily skin gals). I love using this after removing my makeup with the Micellar Cleansing Water. It really helps my face feel really clean and removes any leftover makeup still on my face.

Biore Charcoal Cleanser
This is another product I’ve mentioned a few times here on my blog but I honestly just can’t get enough of this cleanser. This product contains charcoal, which is amazing if you are someone with a serious blackhead problem. Charcoal draws dirt and oil out of the skin and leaves you with nice clean pores. Perfect! If you want to read more about this product, you can do that  here.

Exfoliating is a really important process of anyone’s skincare routine as it helps remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. This is an even more important process for more mature women as when we age our ability to shed and produce skin cells slows down. Without effective removal the skin cells could build up on the surface clogging pores and causing excess oil to be produced which could then lead to blemishes and acne.DSC03261

Frank Original Body Scrub
I don’t want to write too much about this product because I think this deserves a whole blog post dedicated to it! I love this for not only exfoliating my face but also my whole body. It contains oil so not only does it exfoliate but moisturizes at the same time.

Tea Tree Scrub
This product was actually bought on a very tiring shopping trip. I was super tired but needed a new facial exfoliator, so I scanned the shelf, saw this one was £1 and bought it. And HURRAH for lazy Gemma, I love this exfoliator. It’s sooo gentle but scrubs your face just enough that you feel like it’s working. I don’t like using any products that make my face feel raw afterwards and this I can use every single day without feeling a thing! Did I mention it was £1?!?!

Many people can be pretty skeptical of serums. Do we really need them? Isn’t it just like a moisturizer? My response “Yes. You really need it” and “No. It’s nothing like moisturizer.” The benefits you’ll receive will depend on the type of serum you purchase. However, all serums will help add moisture, improve elasticity and help regulate oil production. Unlike a moisturizer, serums are made up of smaller molecules then moisturizer allowing it to penetrate deeper into the skin, resulting in this highly concentrated product to act quicker and more effectively. DSC03263

Clinique Smart Custom Serum
I picked up this serum a little while ago as a sample and after about a week I knew this was the serum for me! My face feels immediately smoother, softer and more moisturized. It sinks into the skin so well and doesn’t leave you feeling sticky or greasy. It contains a smart formula to target your individual skin needs. I love this for in my T-Zone. It helps blur all my pores and imperfections but doesn’t add any extra oiliness.

Sebamed Clear Skin Gel
This was another product I was very kindly sent and I honestly love it! I primarily use this serum on my forehead and chin (the areas I suffer with the most blemishes) and it is amazing. Again it absorbs into the skin VERY quickly, keeps me from becoming an oily mess and has helped so much with unwanted redness, uneven skin and blemishes. Plus it’s mega affordable! I definitely recommend you picking up one of these and giving it a go if you suffer with acne prone skin!

If you’re only ever going to use two skin care products, it should hands down be cleanser and moisturizer. Not only does moisturizer offer the obvious benefits of hydrating the skin but well hydrated skin allows the skin cells to repair themselves faster, meaning moisturizer is one of the major anti-aging products you’ll ever use.neutrogena

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil Free Moisturizer
I’ve already mentioned this product in my Top 10 under £10 beauty products post I did a while back and I’m still completely obsessed with this product. When it comes to moisturiser I like products that are thick but soak into the skin quickly and doesn’t leave you feeling sticky or greasy. This one does the trick perfectly.

Eye Creams
The skin around our eyes is extremely delicate and is therefore prone to wrinkles, dryness, puffiness and dark circles. Eye creams are specially formulated to be thicker, contain more oil than a regular moisturizer and provide a concentrated amount of active ingredients such as Vitamin C, peptides and retinol to help target all those under eye problems.

Soap and Glory Puffy Eye Attack Hydragel
Being someone with chronically dark under eye circles making me resemble the undead I’m always on the look out for that magical eye cream. Unfortunately I still haven’t found that miracle. However, this one is the closest I’ve gotten so far. This Soap and Glory Puffy Eye Attack is so moisturizing and definitely helps lighten and brighten the under eye area. Perfect if your someone who loads up on the concealer in that area, as it will help with any under eye creasing.

Like our eyes, the skin on our lips is super thin with the blood supply very close to the surface. Our lips don’t have any oil glands and therefore doesn’t produce natural oils like the rest of our skin. This makes our lips vulnerable to dryness and cracking. This is why it’s so important to not only use a gentle scrub to exfoliate away the dry skin but to also regularly hydrate your lips using balms. DSC03265

Lip Glam
Again this is another product I’ve already talked a lot about here on, in fact I even dedicated a whole blog post to this one product because I just love it that much! So I won’t say much about it here. If you’re prone to dry lips and want something versatile, cost effective and does everything you could possible want and more, then LipGlam is definitely for you. Head over to my LipGlam blog post to read more about it!

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub
Can Lush ever do wrong? I think not. So not too long ago I was in Lush purchasing the obligatory bath bombs when I was sucked in by the beautiful display of lotions and potions at the till. Naturally, I had to buy some more stuff and this Bubblegum Lip Scrub made the cut! Looking at the ingredients it’s literally just sugar, oil and bubblegum flavouring but this is hands down my most used product. Mostly just because it tastes so darn good. But if that’s what it takes to have soft, exfoliated lips then I’ll do it!
